Beverly Hills, Calif. – October 1, 2015 – Starz released today the official season three trailer and key art for its Emmy®-winning Original series “Black Sails.” The series is created by Jonathan E. Steinberg (“Jericho,” “Human Target”) and Robert Levine (“Touch”) and executive produced by Michael Bay (the Transformers franchise, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor), and his Platinum Dunes partners Brad Fuller and Andrew Form (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, The Purge), as well as Chris Symes (Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Eragon) and Dan Shotz (“Jericho,” “Harper’s Island”).

The ten-episode third season of the authentic high seas drama, returning in 2016, follows the most feared pirate of the day, Captain Flint (Toby Stephens), and takes place twenty years prior to Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic “Treasure Island.” Ray Stevenson (‘Rome,” Insurgent, Divergent) joins the cast as the iconic pirate ‘Blackbeard.’
In the wake of the burning of Charles Town, all the New World lives in fear of Captain Flint. But when his campaign of terror crosses over into madness, it falls to John Silver to locate the man within the monster before it’s too late. Meanwhile, with Eleanor Guthrie in prison, Jack Rackham oversees a new Nassau, hoping to secure his legacy as a king among thieves. All will be tested when a new threat arrives, one the pirates could never have anticipated. It knows them. It understands them. And in the blink of an eye, it will turn them against each other.

The first two seasons of “Black Sails” averaged 4.5 million multi-platform viewers per episode* and the series is distributed in over 175 countries and territories worldwide. “Black Sails” won two Emmy® Awards in 2014, for Outstanding Special and Visual Effects in a Supporting Role, and Outstanding Sound Editing, and was recently renewed for a fourth season.
